Dot Kelly
Is a Hampton, VA native of Korean-American descent who is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Shenandoah University’s Conservatory in Winchester, VA with a BFA in Dance and is currently completing her Masters of Science in Performing Arts Leadership and Management. She has trained as a dancer at the Ballet Academy in Gothenburg, Sweden, the Rockette Summer Intensive, Christopher K. Morgan Winter Intensive, D.C. Tap Festival, and has internationally studied in Greece, France, England, and Germany. She was part of the first U.S. Collegiate Premiere of Something Rotten! at Shenandoah University and served as Assistant Dance Captain and Ensemble Dancer. Kelly is a working artist and has performed in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade 2019, Netflix’s Santa Girl, the upcoming film A Cupid for Christmas, the Miss Virginia Pageant, and is working on various local opportunities in the DMV and NYC area. As a choreographer, Kelly has recently premiered her work Run. at the Kat Wildish Showcase at the Salvatore Capezio Theater in NYC and has partnered and presented with the Holocaust Museum in DC to lead a research project events and how they can correlate with dance. Other credits include Musical Theatre choreography at Powhatan School and Millbrook High School in Virginia. Kelly has also served as a dance educator in the DMV area at Shenandoah Conservatory Arts Academy. In her spare time Kelly is engaged in service work with the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals through the Miss America Organization and serves as a cultural diversity advocate, speaking at various schools about cultural awareness, sensitivity, and appreciation. During her reign as Miss Virginia, Kelly has served 38 Virginia elementary schools in partnership with the Virginia ABC, spoken for TV interviews, and appeared in parades.
